6月16日，江苏省测绘地理信息局启动“数字城市江苏行”宣传活动，来自新华日报、江苏卫视、江苏广电、扬子晚报、新浪江苏等7家新闻媒体的记者参加会议。局党组书记施建石出席会议并致辞，副局长史照良、钱承新出席会议。

施建石表示，数字城市建设离不开政府机关、企事业单位和社会公众的关心和支持，更离不开新闻媒体的宣传报导。在我省数字城市建设取得阶段性成果之际，我们邀请省内主要的新闻媒体，集中报道江苏数字城市建设的成果，宣传测绘地理信息工作在提高城市规划和管理水平、加强市政设施建设、方便人民群众工作生活等方面发挥的重要作用，使大家更加全面地了解数字城市建设工作，对数字城市建设的后续工作以及其他测绘地理信息工作给予更多的支持和协助。

史照良接受媒体专访，详细介绍了全省数字城市建设的进展及数字城市的示范应用在服务政府、服务社会、服务民生方面的作用。钱承新向与会媒体详细介绍了“数字城市江苏行”宣传活动工作方案。有关人员向媒体记者演示了数字无锡在国土等方面的应用情况。

由省内主要媒体组成的宣传报道团将赴南京、苏州、常州、扬州、镇江五市深入采访报道数字城市在政府决策、经济社会发展和人民生活中发挥的重要作用。此次活动将于7月份结束。
